Natural Hyperhidrosis Treatments
Hyperhidrosis is the term used for a medical condition that causes excessive sweating. Hyperhidrosis isn’t only embarrassing as far as creating unwanted wet stains on clothing but the condition itself could have physical ramifications, such as skin irritation. Excessive sweating is typically due to an underlying health condition, so it’s wise to talk to your doctor if you start to experience the symptoms. For instance, heart disease, gout, anxiety, hyperthyroidism, and Parkinson’s disease could cause heavy sweating.
There are also several natural ways to help combat the problem when doctor prescribed medications and antiperspirants aren’t enough:
1. Vinegar
Distilled white vinegar and apple cider vinegar are very versatile products. These can help flush out toxins from the body, regulate blood sugar, and even help control heartburn. But vinegar can also regulate the amount of sweating we experience, by keeping us drier. Just take two teaspoons of white vinegar and one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mix together and drink, it won’t taste great, but it will help, if taken three times a day before each meal. Another idea is to apply the apple cider vinegar directly to your body (i.e, underarm area) each night to help control heavy sweating over time.
2. Cornstarch and baking soda
These are natural alternatives that some use in place of antiperspirants. Not only are these economical in price, but cornstarch and baking soda are quite effective in keeping us dry. Just apply directly to sweaty areas of the body to help keep you drier.
3. Green tea
Drinking a hot cup of tea may seem like a silly thing to suggest for a person with hyperhidrosis, but it turns out green tea is one of the exceptions to that rule. Green tea contains vitamin B and magnesium, which are 2 minerals that help regulate the sweat glands. Just drink a cup of green tea each morning to help reduce episodes of heavy sweating.
4. Tomato juice
There is something about the acid of a tomato that actually helps to shrink the pores of our skin. Drinking tomato juice each day can help you to control unnecessary wetness. If you don’t like tomato juice you can also apply it directly to your underarms and other places where you sweat the most let it sit for a minimum of 10 minutes then rinse it off, it will have the same results.
5. Potassium-rich foods
Consuming potassium-rich foods (i.e., bananas, potatoes, and broccoli) is also beneficial in combating excessive sweating. We tend to consume a whole lot of sodium in our diets, which can lead to sweating, potassium enriched foods can help absorb some of the excess sodium.
6. Lemon
Lemons are like tomatoes, they have good citric acid count. Using lemon can help control the amount of sweating. You can just rub half a lemon onto your underarms or you can mix it with some baking soda for added absorbency to apply to your skin. Leave the lemon on your skin for at least a half-hour, then rinse off.
